Our Philosophy
While most people can lose weight on their own through fad diets and short-term increases in activity level, achieving and sustaining significant weight loss requires a focused and integrated approach. Lasting change means both structural changes in everyday routines and adjustments in a person’s attitudes, beliefs and daily motivational strategies.
We believe an adequate base of lean tissue is crucial to sustaining weight loss. New muscle increases metabolism but it also adds to scale weight and can mask the loss of fat. We ask clients to focus initially on increasing energy, changing body composition and losing inches over rapid weight loss. Avoiding a rigid set of dietary rules, we encourage our clients to experiment with a variety of nutritional possibilities and to craft their own approach to healthy eating. This significantly increases the likelihood that new, healthy eating habits will be sustained over time.
